Real replies from college coaches

Screenshots from real coach emails. Names hidden for privacy.

Email from a college soccer coach asking to set up a phone call after reviewing the player's highlight reel
Reply from a head men's soccer coach asking the player to send full-length game film

Why most coach emails get ignored

  • Generic copy-paste emails sent to every school
  • No highlight video, or a link buried at the bottom
  • Wrong coach, wrong program, wrong timing
  • One email and no follow-up

How I got coaches to reply

I learned that talent alone doesn't get you seen. A short, personal email with your film up front, sent to the right coach and followed up on, is what gets a reply. College Soccer Tutor is where I teach players and parents to do exactly that.

Skool is the online community platform College Soccer Tutor runs on. Tap any button on this page to join.

Who is it for?

High school and club players who want to play college soccer at any level, and their parents.

Do I need a highlight video before joining?

No. You can join first and build your film and coach emails step by step.

When should I start emailing college soccer coaches?

Freshman or sophomore year is a good time to start. You can email coaches at any age, and Division I coaches can start private messages, calls and verbal offers from June 15 after sophomore year. See the free recruiting timeline guide.

Are college soccer ID camps worth it?

Yes, when the school is on your list and you've emailed the coach first. Random camps without contact rarely lead anywhere. See the free ID camps guide.

How do college soccer scholarships work?

Most are partial. Division I and II split scholarship money across the roster, Division III offers academic and need-based aid instead, and NAIA and junior college also give athletic scholarships. See the free scholarship guide.

Does it guarantee a roster spot or scholarship?

No. It helps you reach coaches the right way; outcomes depend on many things.
